You Need To Try These Hair Products

Hi Ya!

I know it’s been quite a while that I had posted anything. I’m telling you life became quite busy. Things started to become a lot, I unknowingly started my own business so I was and still am trying to figure that out which I shall keep you posted. Along with planning my wedding (details on that to follow on another post) and on top of it all having a life of course. So I unintentionally decided to take a break on the blogging aspect as my dedication for beauty and trying out different products diminished over the months. But now I am back at it again and I’ve had some time to think about what I would love to try and I’m always seeking for recommendations on the newest trends. As you can probably tell from the title this post will be dedicated to hair products as I’ve been enjoying and simply found them to work amazing for my hair.

Now that being said I cannot guarantee that you will love all the products I’m talking about or that it may work the best for your hair as well, but you can definitely alway try it out. If you have thick hair that has had a beating here and there then this could possibly be of interest to you. However, majority of these products I think would apply to any hair type and who knows it may actually work – you won’t know until you try. Something I alway recommend to my family and friends, if you aren’t sure whether the product will work on you, and you don’t want to commit spending a shit ton of money then the best is to purchase the mini/travel size and try that out. Usually it’s more then half the cost of what it would be for the full size. I do acknowledge that some brands may not offer that option – but if you aren’t sure always inquire regardless – it won’t hurt and if anything it will save you some money.

If you want advice or tips on styling, especially for thick hair like mine don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

img_17581. Bumble and Bumble Heat/UV Protective Primer

The Bumble and Bumble brand was something I noticed was quite popular and still is when it comes to the hair care world. Apart from loving the name, I’ve been enjoying using this product more than I expected and it’s become something I use pretty much every time I’m styling my hair with direct heat. This Heat protector makes my hair softer, smoother, silkier, and less tangled. As well, I do enjoy the scent it provides my hair – a settle scent that isn’t overpowering. I like to spray this on my hair before I’m going to apply heat, I spray a generous amount on my wet hair and comb it out to spread evenly. I’ll also spray on damp/semi-dry hair when I plan to straighten or curl my hair. I love that the smell doesn’t diminish after using heat on my hair, which I find with other heat protector it smells amazing when you spray initially and then it’s gone once you’ve styled your hair. I find that just frustrating.

2. ORIBEDry Texturizing Spray

I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but I cannot stand hairspray. I’ve tried various types of hairspray and I just can’t seem to get into it. Mind you I can’t complain, my hair is relatively compliant or I don’t care as much if I lose the style over the day. Regardless, sometimes I want my hair styling skills to last longer and even though this is a texturizing spray it works the same as a hairspray without feeling heavy or making your hair crispy… you know what I’m talking about. OH and can I mention the scent is heavenly. I’m very keen on scent… that is crucial to me.

3. MoroccanoilDry Shampoo

Honestly, whoever thought of dry shampoo seriously you have changed the beauty world thats for sure. Either way I’ve been trying out different dry shampoo’s from Batiste, CO Lab, Fructise but I have to say the Moroccanoil is my favourite, the key factor being that they have an option for dark tone and light tone hair colour. Let’s be real if you could get the option to have it match your colour and less hassle of blending well I’ll take it. Also out of all the dry shampoos I’ve used this one has an awesome scent and it definitely lingers so your hair looks and has the fresh wash scent, SUCCESS.

4. Pearlessence Sea Spray Sea Salt

To be honest I was kind of surprised that I actually liked this product. I bought this out of whim, meaning I was standing in line waiting to pay for my other stuff and they always get to you by putting stuff along the way. But I’m not upset because it wasn’t overly expensive, I actually bought this spray at Winner’s for $12.99. I’m just not sure where else you can purchase this brand in Toronto, and with Winner’s it’s a hit or miss, products come and go. So this spray helps to define my curls without having to style with a curler, I just spray it when my hair is more on the damp side than purely wet, let it sit for a minute and then I just scrunch my hair with my hands and either do other stuff or if it’s before bedtime I would sleep on it … next day I have effortless and cute curls. However, the only thing I’m not sure about and I shall see how it works in the winter time. I feel it works best in the summer time when you have the option of air drying – in the winter I usually don’t prefer doing that. That will be my experiment.

5. ORIBERun-Through Detangling Primer

I can definitely talk about Oribe products and this one I’ve been eyeing and finally decided to purchase, this is this the run-through detangling primer. I use this if I want to give my hair a nice shine and of course it helps to detangle my thick hair. The key factors that stand out about this is that it isn’t heavy on the hair at all and again the Oribe products just have the best scent, if I have to say Oribe definitely slays the award for best scent. It’s unique and I feel oddly enough sassy afterwards, can’t explain that.

6. OUAIHair Treatment Masque

I don’t know about you but I’ve been hearing about OUAI this, OUAI that and I thought why not finally try it out. If I understood correctly OUAI is the new line from the celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin’s and of course if she’s dealing with celebrities it HAS to be the best, right? I guess so.. I’ve never been into hair masques, although I really should since I have thick and wavy/curly hair. And especially when it gets super cold here in Canada it definitely should be the number one product to use. Regardless, I tried this hair masque and I liked it. I purchased the 3 treatment packets just to see how it was and I liked how it made my hair afterwards. What I find is really a smart idea is the fact that you have individual packets as opposed to a whole jar and this is the allocated amount of product to use. Because masques are not meant to be overloaded, it’s just meant to provide you with the shine you’ve been missing. I can definitely see why people have been loving the OUAI products. The true test of awesomeness would be to see how her other products are.

Well those are my six products that I’ve been into recently, if you have any recommendations or if you have questions don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

Products To Try

I recently went window-online shopping at Sephora and they have a lot of awesome goodies that I want to try out so badly. Lets get to the list of products that I want to try out.

  1. NAKED – Smokey Eye Palette
NAKED Smokey Eye PaletteI love all the colours that they offer for this new palette, they look absolutely stunning and I can see some amazing combinations from this palette. When does Urban Decay disappoint, honestly.
  2. Sephora – Airbrush Concealer Brush #57
Sephora Airbrush Concealer BrushThis brush looks beautiful, and I’ve been really wanting a new concealer brush that one I have I don’t fully like. When I was in the store this brush looked like really good quality.
  3. YSL – Touche Eclat Blur Perfector
YSL Touche Eclat Blur PerfectorAs stated on Sephora “A blur perfector compact that perfects the skin while retaining its luminous glow”, who doesn’t want a little bit of glow to there skins.
  4. Origins – Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay
Origins Original Skin MaskAnything with rose in the name, you have got me. As well, it states “Pores appear to vanish and clarity is restored for a radiant, youthful-looking complexion that’s silky-smooth to the touch.” I definitely wouldn’t mind trying this mask out to see if my pores appear smaller, I definitely have that issue on my nose.
  5. YSL – Volupte Tint-In-Oil
YSL VolupteI would love to try the YSL, in the lip colour Undress Me 3, it looks to be a gorgeous colour. And I constantly hear amazing things when it come to YSL lip products. It’s definitely on the pricier side but if I just invest in the one colour that would be amazing.

Top 4 Mascaras

Hello Everyone,

I’ve recently noticed that there are four (4) main mascaras that I’ve really been loving and using on a daily basis and just love everything about these products. Here are the four I’ve been into…

Buxom Lash Mascara (High-End)FullSizeRender (1)
I love that this product doesn’t clump up your lashes at all, and what’s funny is that I was definitely worried that the big wand would actually do that. I find that these bristles are perfect for grabbing all of the lashes and really pulling them along. This product last quite long, I know you shouldn’t have your mascara for long but this one is still in good standing.
Score: 9/10
Price: $24 (Sephora)

L’Oreal – Voluminous Million Lashes  (Low-End) FullSizeRender (4)This mascara definitely does what it says, VOLUME. I love the bristles, they are short and don’t move intensely so once again you can grab all the lashes. What I also love is that for a big bristle it seems to work perfectly for my fair and sparse lashes. The formula is also good, its not to wet but also drys a bit slowly so its easy to work with.
Score: 8/10
Price: ~ $12-14 (Shoppers Drug Mart)

Dior – Maximizer Lash Plumping (High-End)

FullSizeRender (3)
What can I say about this base mascara, is that I LOVE it. It’s a perfect base for your mascara and it doesn’t leave them white at all. I got this one as a sample when I was at the Dior counter, and I fell in-love with it. I’ve been using this every time I put on my mascara. It helps to set your lashes so that way when you put on the actual mascara it’s already set in place and the sole purpose is to darken the lashes.
Score: 8.5/10
Price: $36 (Sephora)

Covergirl – Clump Crusher (Low-End)

FullSizeRender (2)This mascara isn’t fully black, its actually black-brown. I always love to have that option in my mascaras for the days that I don’t want intense black lashes, usually for work. Again some of my favourites from this mascara is the bristles, the formula is nice and smooth. Definitely doesn’t give you any clumps, the formula is a little more on the wet side so you have to be careful when applying. I would definitely recommend this low-end mascara.
Score: 9/10
Price: ~$8-9 (Shoppers Drug Mart)

I would love to hear what some of your favourite mascaras and the recommendations, I’m always interested in trying something new. Please leave a comment.

Sephora & Winners Haul

1. Sonia Kashuk Lip Liner – Pink Whisper
2. Glam Glow
3. Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil
4. Sonia Kashuk Tinted Lip Balm – Hint of Berry
5. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
6. Pixi Eye Mesmerizing Mineral Palette Plum Quartz
7. Formula X Nail polish – Dynamic
8. Co Lab Dry Shampoo – Tropical

I recently went a little bit crazy at Sephora, Winners and Target. I got some amazing new products that I want to try out so badly. First off this is my first time to get Sonia Kashuk products and I’m excited to try it out I’m thinking of doing a makeup look tomorrow for my night out with my girlfriend. I got a beautiful nude pink colour lip liner from Sonia Kashuk, which is a perfect lip colour for when you want a simple eye makeup look, especially for work. I also bought the tinted lip balm in a deep plum colour from Sonia Kashuk. I’m excited because that colour would work so pretty with the eye palette I got from Pixi. The eye palette is called Plum Quarts with hints of plum, pinky-nude, and cocoa shades.

From Sephora I bought the Glam Glow mask FINALLY, and its amazing. I tried it out right away and boy did it clean the pores on my nose amazingly. In addition, to the Glam Glow put the Tart Maracuja oil on at night before going to bed and your face is supple the next day, moisturized just glowing. Along with those I got the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, it’s pretty good. It’s better at separating the eyelashes, I’m sure if I layered it on it would look fuller but thats not my style. Lastly, I decided to try the Formula X nail polish in the colour Dynamic (grey colour) and I can see what the fuss is about it lasts pretty long, and its a nice formula, easy to apply and drys quickly.

The last product that I wanted to try was the Co Lab dry shampoo, I got it in the Tropical smell, check out Essie Buttons empties product reviewing the Co Lab dry shampoo.

Review: Bite Lipstick

Bite LipstickThe other day I saw this gorgeous creme lipstick by Bite at Sephora and I just had to buy it. The price for this dual ended lipstick was around $15 CAD, which is not to bad since the regular price for a regular lipstick is about $32 CAD. The two colours that I bought was Fig and Date, which are both on the pinkish in colour and are on the neutral side.

I definitely loved the lipstick, I loved that its exactly what it states in the name, creme lipstick. It goes on nice and smoothly and I love that it’s moisturizing. From the two colour my favourite colour would have to be the date. Its more on the pinkish side and seems to go with more of my looks that I wear. I’ve tried out this lip product for a week and the only downfall is that you definitely have to reapply if you eat food or drink liquids. Also by the end of the day it tends to have this crumbled pieces on your lips.  But I’d have to say that the crumbling was after 8 hours, so it isn’t that bad.

Overall, would I repurchase this lipstick in a different colour, I’d say yes. The colour and the texture of the lipstick was wonderful and moisturizing which is definitely a key when I purchase a lipstick. If I can make a recommendation combine the fig colour with the L’Oreal Extraordinaire by colour riche in the colour Nude Ballet (picture down below).

Let me know if you have tried Bite lipsticks and if so what did you think of the product?

Topbox February 2015

Benefit Box

Hello all,

It’s my first ever opening of the Topbox for the month of February and what a perfect month to start with, the month of love. As well, it’s a nice start to my subscription by getting all Benefit products to try out. Which I have been wanting to, just never got around to deciding which one but now I can try all of them, so much excitement here. But here are the products that I’ve received in my box for the month of February of 2015.

  • Roller Lash Mascara – this product is coming soon to the market for actual purchase so I guess I’m getting to try this product before it even comes out, how exciting! It claim in the description that it’s an “eye-opening Hook n’ Roll brush that grabs, separates, lifts and curls”. The retail price will be $29 CAD.
  • POREfessional Primer –  I’ve heard such amazing things regarding this primer from Benefit, it seems that in the blogging/youtube world this is the go to primer. I’m truly excited to try it out. It claims that it “minimizes the appearance of pores & fine lines … oil-free formula complements all skin tones and helps makeup stay put”. I’m excited to see if that is actually true. The retail price is $37 CAD.
  • Potent! Eye Cream –  I’m not really an under-eye cream kind of girl, I don’t know why I never got into it, probably should protect those delicate babies but I’m a terrible at it. I’m terrible at moisturizing so how can I keep up with an under eye cream. But I’m excited to try this Benefit one, hopefully it does what is says which is “fades dark circles & helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger looking eyes”. I definitely have dark circles, even though I get the proper amount of sleep, damn those genes of mine. The retail price is $40 CAD, a little bit on the pricy side but I’ll see if it’s worth it.
  • Puff off eye gel –  Now this is the real product that I’m extremely excited for, I seem to have the morning puffy eyes, I don’t know why. I get enough amount of sleep but somehow my body I guess disagrees with me and wants me to be hideous looking in the morning. So this product I have really high HOPES that it will help with the puffiness. I’ll definitely do a review and let you all know if its worth the retail price of $35 CAD.

All of these products can be purchased either at Shoppers Drug Mart or Sephora in Canada. I’ll come back with a review for some of these products to let you know if it’s worth the price or if it does what it claims. If you want me to review something specifically let me know in the comments section.

Sephora ♥ Kat Von D

I walked into my local Sephora and decided to get something little for myself. I thought I’d be nice to my wallet and just bought the sample size to see if I actually liked the product before I committed to it fully. I bought the Kat Von D tattoo liner, the immortal lash mascara. After hearing the amazing things about this product I thought why not do a sample size first and then if I really like it I’ll progress to the full version.

My opinion of this liner is that overall it provides an amazing winged liner look. The brush is smooth to work with, the fact that it’s a smaller in size just makes it easier to control the precision of the brush. Please see the review by Essie Button with regards to the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. Regarding the Kat Von D Immortal Lash mascara, I definitely have all good things to say about this mascara. For me personally, it did not clump my eyelashes, it spread them out nicely and evenly. As beautypedia review comments you do need a couple of coats to really get them full looking. The bristles are kind of good because it doesn’t allow for a lot of product which is the reason it doesn’t clump your lashes but instead lengthens them. Beautypedia provides some amazing pros and cons for this product if you are interested to read, click here.

Favourites: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

My morning routine always includes one of the basic essentials and that is a face cleanser. Well I think my toothbrush and tooth paste are also an essential, but this cleanser is next to them.
At first I didn’t think I would like the cleanser just because I didn’t try a lot of Fresh products and wasn’t sure what to expect. I was a drug store kind of gal, just a simple cleanser and I was happy. Well now I am hooked and I can’t look at any other face cleanser the same, its not like my fresh soy cleanser.  But here are some of my pro’s and con’s for this products and why you should consider trying it out.

– Lightweight – meaning that it’s not a heavy cleanser
– Cleans off makeup amazingly, even your tough eyeliner. But I’m not sure about the waterproof makeup.
–  Claims to be for all skin types
– Leaves your face glowing and looking fresh (no pun intended)
– Lathers-less and a small amount is just enough to clean your whole face, meaning you use less product 🙂

– No scent –  it has a bit of a scent that is very minimal, but kind of has an unusual scent as well.
– Doesn’t have the soapy lather feel which could be confusing at first, but trust me you get over it.

Sephora Birthday Gift

Sephora, who doesn’t love Sephora. Not only do they hold all the beauty products you can even imagine but they sure know how to make you feel special for your birthday.

On my actual birthday I got a notification that I have a free birthday gift waiting for me which included some samples of products. As noted in the picture these are some of the things I got as my birthday gift for Jan 12. I did buy the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser because I didn’t have anymore and I think it’s the best facial cleanser overall from the whole store in Sephora. Or at least it makes me skin feel and look amazing. But with it I got a sample size of Make Up For Ever lipstick in the colour Rouge. But my main gift was the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella and  Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien, both lip pencils are just beautiful and glide on nicely. They don’t dry out the lips, if anything for the matte lip pencil its actually moisturizing. I definitely love the colour Cruella a little bit more just because its a deep red colour (cool red) and I’ve never had a colour like that. So it is something different to try and experiment with.

Finally, I was given some sample options and I took two perfumes and the one I’ve been wanting to try is the Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight it claims to provide age-resetting, anti-wrinkle moisturizing, which I wanted to use as and under-eye treatment. But it will be hard to tell how good it is when I have such a limited amount. Lastly, I received a sample of the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask, this one seems like an interesting peel-off mask which I can’t wait to try this weekend, when I do some pampering.

But those are the goodies I got from Sephora for my birthday, what I lovely idea that Sephora has to really keep their customers happy thats definitely another plus as to why I love Sephora.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer Review

I just recently bought the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in the shade fair. I bought this concealer at Sephora about a week ago and wore it for New Years Eve celebration, which I think is the perfect time to test it out and see how long it lasted and whether it actually was creaseless. These are just some of my personal views and thoughts on the concealer.

On the Sephora website it states that this concealer is

“long-lasting, full coverage in a creamy, velvety texture with pure skin-soothing ingredients. This high-performance natural           formula is infused with tarte’s pure maracuja oil, which helps to improve skin’s texture, tone, and moisture content while             imparting a brightening, dewy, luminous finish.”Sephora

The key words being long-lasting, full coverage, with a creamy and velvety texture. All of these words I have to definitely agree, and I think it honours what it says. I kept hearing amazing things about Tarte products and I was really happy that all of it was true to it’s words.

At first when you put the product on you think wow this is a really thick product, with a similar thickness to clay. However, once you give some warmth to the product and dab it into the under eye area it works out to be very creamy. The concealer blends rather easily, I would recommend using a beauty blender rather then a brush. But that is just my opinion. I’d also recommend that you warm the product up first before putting straight to the skin.

The texture of the product is exactly as it states which is velvety and smooth and it strictly provides the nice luminous effect underneath your eyes. The reason why I love this product is the fact that for someone who has very dark circles underneath the eyes and veins that show, it conceal it and brightens up my eyes. So that is definitely a plus for this product.

The price is $29 CAD, which is again rather pricy but with any Sephora product it’s hard to find something that is relatively affordable or within a reasonable price range. Now the big question is would I invest money or repurchase this product, I definitely would. Especially since I’ve finally found a product that didn’t crease and provided me with bright eyes.

Let me know if you have tried the Tart Concealer and what your thoughts were or if you would recommend any other concealer that I should try.

Monthly Favourites ♥

♥♥♥November Favourites

November was definitely the month of makeup. I got into a craze of just trying different beauty products and there were a ton that I enjoyed and kept going back to. Let start the list from top left box…

Eye Products:

  • MAYBELLINE – Dreamlumi (Highlighting Concealer): This product is amazing, not only can you conceal those under-eye dark circles it also gives you a nice illumination effect. The product itself isn’t heavy or greasy and it blends very well with the skin.
  • HARD CANDY Eyeliner (Geisha): For a Walmart product I have to say Hard Candy is my favourite. This purple/eggplant eyeliner is creamy and lasts a pretty long time, even on the waterline. It builds up really nicely, meaning that since its a purple colour it isn’t instantly overly powerful.
  • SEPHORA – Nano Eyeliner (22 Glitter Brown): I truly love this eyeliner because it is really pointy, making it easy to make a slim upper line and you can get close to the lash line. The colour is beautiful, glides on creamy and is perfect for when you want to do a pretty but natural eye look without it being harsh. I say this brown eyeliner colour is just the perfect look for work.
  • ANASTASIA – Beverly Hills Brow Pencil:This pencil came in the GO Brow Kit from Sephora. The colour happened to match me perfectly, it glides on nicely and it’s easy to build the colour. There is a reason why everyone loves the Anastasia brand for when you want to achieve those amazing well groomed eyebrows.

Makeup Tools:

  • Precision Beauty – Stippling Brush: I’m not too sure of the brand since I threw out the box. However, I do remember getting it at Winners and it was an amazing price ($8.99CAD) and the quality is similar to the professional expensive makeup brushes. I use this product primarily for when I’m using liquid foundation, or if I’m buffering out the remaining product on my face. The brush is super soft and mixes the product nicely.
  • Foundation Sponge: A Winners brand again, and this sponge is similar to the Beauty Blender from Sephora. The only difference is the price – Sephora ($30CAD) and Winners ($6.99CAD). It blends beautifully, making your skin look radiant and is a great tool for beginners in applying makeup, such as myself.
  • ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Tweezers: These small tweezers also came in the Go Brow kit and they work amazing. Due to the small size they can get into tight spaces which is helpful for tiny face eyebrows (if that makes sense). As well, I am an extreme perfectionist when it comes to my eyebrows so it helps to have amazing tweezers.

Face & Other:

  • MAYBELLINE – The Rocket (Volume Mascara): If I want voluminous eyelashes I go for this product. I haven’t been having issues with clumped eyelashes from this formula. I love the handle its nice and thick and the bristles are stiff making it nice to glide on the lashes, I hate when you have a flimsy brush head making your eyelashes look all over the place.
  • JACK BLACK – Lip Therapy: Love that it is SPF 25, amazing for the winter time, and gives you a nice gloss finish without being sticky. My favourite scent from all was the Grapefruit & Ginger, I think the ginger gives you a little bit of a tingling effect on your lips.
  • MAYBELLINE – Fit Me Foundation Stick: (120 Classic Ivory) I love how the stick glides on, it’s definitely hassle-free. I’m not to sure about the shine-free centre component since I don’t have a huge issue with shine. The texture is definitely creamy when its on the skin. The coverage is light to medium, but I have noticed that it does not stay on as long if your sweating more than usual.
  • NIVEA – Pure & Natural Lip Balm: The flavour is Milk & Honey, and the smell is absolutely wonderful and faint. It glides on nicely and keeps the lips moisturized, especially during the winter season.

Face Cleansers:

  • Fresh – Soy Face Cleanser: (For All Skin Types) ($17.50CAD) I got the small version at the Sephora checkout line to see what the hype was about. So far, I am really enjoying the product. A little goes a long way with it, meaning that you don’t need a lot of product and it still cleans your face and takes off most of your remaining makeup. The only thing I’m not enjoying is the scent, which is that it doesn’t have a scent at all. I personally enjoy having a nice scent just to get my day going nicely.
  • NIVEA – Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover
  • CLARINS – Exfoliating Facial Cleanser: This product smells amazing (a citrus hint) and definitely wakes you up in the morning. The beads aren’t to harsh so you can technically use every other day if you wanted. I got the tester size from Sephora and a little goes a long way for this product as well which I love because when I purchase the bigger size it will last me longer.

Non-Beauty Related:

  • The SHEARER CANDLES – Pink Fig Blossom: Purchased at Winners for $6.99CAD, this candle smells BEAUTIFUL. It is a very delicate smell, meaning that it isn’t overpowering. I’ll be honest I can’t wait to use up the candle, only so that I can use the cup for something else.
  • BRITNEY SPEARS– Midnight Fantasy: This girly and fruity scent is amazing. This scent works perfectly for the fall/winter season due to its muskiness. This is how it’s best described “exotic framboise, black cherry, and plum… amber, musk and vanilla create a dark and warm trail”

I would love to read what your favourite products were for the month of November, or just products you love in general.
