Must Have Products – April 2015

FullSizeRender (1)I recently went a little crazy and bought some products that I have been using like a mad woman for the month of April. These are some of the products that I would suggest you try yourself.

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer / $23 / Shoppers Drug Mart – awesome bronzer you only really need a little bit for contouring the face
L’Oreal Infallible Setting Spray / $12 /  Shoppers Drug Mart – awesome spray to spray onto your brushes to get pigmented eyeshadow colours as well for setting the makeup in place.
NYX – Golden Bronze /$1 / Shoppers Drug Mart – beautiful colour gets the smokey eye effect and it looks beautiful on brown eyes but I’m sure its great for all eye colours. Beautiful deep bronze colour. The lasting effect is outstanding and smudges due to its creamy consistency.
L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara / $12 / Shoppers Drug Mart – amazing mascara provides volume without clumping at all at least for my eyelashes. Love the look it gave to my eyes made my lashes look outstanding.
Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Highlighter / $14 / Shoppers Drug Mart – provides outstanding highlight to the cheekbone and anywhere else. Much more loose powder then expected so you need very little amount. I’d say this is best for fair skin because of how light in colour it is.

Those are my favourite must have for the month of April that I used consistently and absolutely loved. Let me know if you tried any of these products and what you thought.

Beauty Product ♥ Organization

Are you like me, where you just love organization. Doesn’t it just provide you with immense satisfaction knowing that everything you own has a place of it’s own. Well I am totally like that, I just love to organize anything in my apartment but especially my makeup. I recently went shopping on Amazon and found this amazing makeup organizer that I thought I would share with all of you and tell you what I thought.

The 3-drawer makeup organizer can be found at the following link. It was roughly $20 CAD, which isn’t to bad of a cost. Now you definitely pay for what you get and I’d say that for $20 this was a pretty good purchase. I can fit quite a few products in each drawer.

IMG_1233In the first drawer, I keep all of my facial products. Such as concealers, under eye concealers, foundation and my makeup sponge. The second drawer contains all of my mascaras, eyeliners, and lip liners. The last drawer contains my Coastal Scent concealer palette, my mini eyeshadow palettes, blushes, bronzers, and highlighters. On top of the drawers is supposed to be a lipstick holder which does contain a majority of my lip products but I do keep some other goodies that fit as well. The link to the lipstick holder is here. Which wasn’t quite expensive as well, approximately $5 CAD. For the price paid it does an amazing job and isn’t that cheap looking either.

The makeup brush holder is probably my favourite it’s so cute and inexpensive as well. I bought the holder from IKEA. It’s definitely a beautiful accent to your makeup organization.

Let me know what your makeup organization looks like. I love to see how people organize their products, I’m creepy like that.

Coastal Scents Eclipse Concealer Palette Review

IMG_1067 IMG_1068

This was one of the birthday gifts for myself that I’ve been wanting to try so badly and that would be the Coastal Scents Eclipse Concealer Palette. Can I just say that after using it once, that I am in love. I think this palette is close to out beating my Urban Decay Naked Palette, it’s pure love.

Not only does it blend easy but the colour options are amazing, you can pretty much blend the colours to create the perfect combination for your skin tone. They have wonderful selections and options for the face as the website notes there is:

“-The mint green shade counteracts redness or pinkness caused from rosacea, blemishes, or capillaries around the nose and cheek areas.
-The pale yellow shade conceals black, blue, or purple imperfections such as bruises or unsightly under eye halos.
-The lavender shade neutralizes areas with excessive yellow pigmentation and corrects olive skin tones.
-The white/silver shade can be used as a highlighter to add sheen to cheekbones, nose, eyes, etc.”

I bought the palette on Amazon and not from the Coastal Scent website but the price range on Amazon was around $13 and on the Coastal Scent website it is around $14. Not a huge difference, I only ordered it from Amazon because I was getting a makeup organizer so I thought I’d do it one order.

But please let me know if you have tried the Coastal Scent concealer palette or any of the others, I’m interested in the contour palette as well but I’m weary of whether I’d use the palette often. But I’d still love to hear your reviews or opinions on it or the concealer palette.

If you have any other questions please leave a comment and I’d be more then happy to answer them for you.

Next post will be on how I organize my makeup, check back to get some inspiration.

Makeup Wants for 2015

These are just 3 beauty wants that I’ve been meaning to get but still haven’t invested the time in buying it. But I’m going to get these and try them out and do a review. Let me know what beauty products you have been meaning to try out and why.

1. Lorac Pro Palette       2. Zoeve Beauty Brushes      3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting

loracpropalette      zoevebrushes        Hourglass glow

1. I’ve been wanting to try Lorac pro since all the beauty gurus of youtube have been recommending it. The colours are beautiful and useful for daytime looks and nighttime looks. It seems very similar to the Urban Decay Naked palette (colour wise) but I’m sure the texture is different.

2. Zoeve brushes, I’ve heard about these gorgeous brushes through Essie Button’s beauty blog. And I love me Essie Button, she recommends awesome beauty products and these brushes look like they are amazing quality.

3. The hourglass ambient lighting palette looks like a beautiful palette for getting beautiful luminescent skin tone and I love getting that glow look to me.

Product Review: Latisse

Are you constantly trying to find ways to make your eyelashes longer and fuller?

I think that’s the case for most women I know. We all generally want those beautiful full lashes. Well Latisse seems to be the product for that and you’re probably wondering whether it actually works. The quick answer to your question is, YES.

There seems to be two sides to the Latisse debate, people who are all for it or people who are against it. I’m here to provide you with some anecdotal experience with the Latisse product and hopefully it can provide you with clarification and information for a better understanding of what it does and what the end results were for me.

Funny enough, Allergan was developing Latisse for a completely different purpose. This product was developed in 2001 to help medicate elevated intraocular pressure in the eye. Instead, doctors recognized that people who were using these eye drops were developing longer and even thicker lashes. With some further studying, bimatoprost was the chemical responsible for the growth and thus Latisse was brought to the beauty community.

Here is some of the information regarding this product…

COST: roughly $125-150CAD (this price range is from what I’ve noticed)

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?  I used the 3ml bottle (supposed to last for 6 months). There are two sizes.

WHERE TO PURCHASE? Usually you can search various beauty related spa’s that may offer it or you can search on the Latisse website for a Doctor’s office that carries the brand. Or it can be ordered online from the actual company.

ROUTINE: This product goes on a nicely clean face, and preferentially prior to bed so that you decrease the chances of touching or rubbing your eyes. It is crucial that this product does not get into your eyes. You are provided with a bunch of brushes in the box. On the brush you place a few drops of the product and you apply as close as possible to your lash line. This product is required to be used every night, for roughly 6 months, for the best results.

WORTH THE MONEY? If you are truly looking for those long beautiful eyelashes and you hate having to constantly use low-end or drug store products, then yes this product is totally worth it. I would say stop wasting your money on those cheap products and get the real deal. However, if you are not preoccupied by long lashes and you are okay with using your regular mascara then don’t bother buying it. That’s simply how I see it.

My overall experience has been great, I’ve achieved the long lashes I wanted. I wish I took a before picture to indicate how they were prior to using Latisse but I completely didn’t think about it. But I can truly guarantee that it works. A few of my coworkers who recommended the product to me used it and man do they have intense and long eyelashes. I’ll be honest I was not religious with using the product, I didn’t use it everyday for 6 months. I actually still have some of the product that I use here and there. However, for those 3 weeks that I did use I got some killer eyelashes and they are still maintaining and I get complements on them 🙂

Monthly Favourites ♥

♥♥♥November Favourites

November was definitely the month of makeup. I got into a craze of just trying different beauty products and there were a ton that I enjoyed and kept going back to. Let start the list from top left box…

Eye Products:

  • MAYBELLINE – Dreamlumi (Highlighting Concealer): This product is amazing, not only can you conceal those under-eye dark circles it also gives you a nice illumination effect. The product itself isn’t heavy or greasy and it blends very well with the skin.
  • HARD CANDY Eyeliner (Geisha): For a Walmart product I have to say Hard Candy is my favourite. This purple/eggplant eyeliner is creamy and lasts a pretty long time, even on the waterline. It builds up really nicely, meaning that since its a purple colour it isn’t instantly overly powerful.
  • SEPHORA – Nano Eyeliner (22 Glitter Brown): I truly love this eyeliner because it is really pointy, making it easy to make a slim upper line and you can get close to the lash line. The colour is beautiful, glides on creamy and is perfect for when you want to do a pretty but natural eye look without it being harsh. I say this brown eyeliner colour is just the perfect look for work.
  • ANASTASIA – Beverly Hills Brow Pencil:This pencil came in the GO Brow Kit from Sephora. The colour happened to match me perfectly, it glides on nicely and it’s easy to build the colour. There is a reason why everyone loves the Anastasia brand for when you want to achieve those amazing well groomed eyebrows.

Makeup Tools:

  • Precision Beauty – Stippling Brush: I’m not too sure of the brand since I threw out the box. However, I do remember getting it at Winners and it was an amazing price ($8.99CAD) and the quality is similar to the professional expensive makeup brushes. I use this product primarily for when I’m using liquid foundation, or if I’m buffering out the remaining product on my face. The brush is super soft and mixes the product nicely.
  • Foundation Sponge: A Winners brand again, and this sponge is similar to the Beauty Blender from Sephora. The only difference is the price – Sephora ($30CAD) and Winners ($6.99CAD). It blends beautifully, making your skin look radiant and is a great tool for beginners in applying makeup, such as myself.
  • ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Tweezers: These small tweezers also came in the Go Brow kit and they work amazing. Due to the small size they can get into tight spaces which is helpful for tiny face eyebrows (if that makes sense). As well, I am an extreme perfectionist when it comes to my eyebrows so it helps to have amazing tweezers.

Face & Other:

  • MAYBELLINE – The Rocket (Volume Mascara): If I want voluminous eyelashes I go for this product. I haven’t been having issues with clumped eyelashes from this formula. I love the handle its nice and thick and the bristles are stiff making it nice to glide on the lashes, I hate when you have a flimsy brush head making your eyelashes look all over the place.
  • JACK BLACK – Lip Therapy: Love that it is SPF 25, amazing for the winter time, and gives you a nice gloss finish without being sticky. My favourite scent from all was the Grapefruit & Ginger, I think the ginger gives you a little bit of a tingling effect on your lips.
  • MAYBELLINE – Fit Me Foundation Stick: (120 Classic Ivory) I love how the stick glides on, it’s definitely hassle-free. I’m not to sure about the shine-free centre component since I don’t have a huge issue with shine. The texture is definitely creamy when its on the skin. The coverage is light to medium, but I have noticed that it does not stay on as long if your sweating more than usual.
  • NIVEA – Pure & Natural Lip Balm: The flavour is Milk & Honey, and the smell is absolutely wonderful and faint. It glides on nicely and keeps the lips moisturized, especially during the winter season.

Face Cleansers:

  • Fresh – Soy Face Cleanser: (For All Skin Types) ($17.50CAD) I got the small version at the Sephora checkout line to see what the hype was about. So far, I am really enjoying the product. A little goes a long way with it, meaning that you don’t need a lot of product and it still cleans your face and takes off most of your remaining makeup. The only thing I’m not enjoying is the scent, which is that it doesn’t have a scent at all. I personally enjoy having a nice scent just to get my day going nicely.
  • NIVEA – Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover
  • CLARINS – Exfoliating Facial Cleanser: This product smells amazing (a citrus hint) and definitely wakes you up in the morning. The beads aren’t to harsh so you can technically use every other day if you wanted. I got the tester size from Sephora and a little goes a long way for this product as well which I love because when I purchase the bigger size it will last me longer.

Non-Beauty Related:

  • The SHEARER CANDLES – Pink Fig Blossom: Purchased at Winners for $6.99CAD, this candle smells BEAUTIFUL. It is a very delicate smell, meaning that it isn’t overpowering. I’ll be honest I can’t wait to use up the candle, only so that I can use the cup for something else.
  • BRITNEY SPEARS– Midnight Fantasy: This girly and fruity scent is amazing. This scent works perfectly for the fall/winter season due to its muskiness. This is how it’s best described “exotic framboise, black cherry, and plum… amber, musk and vanilla create a dark and warm trail”

I would love to read what your favourite products were for the month of November, or just products you love in general.
